Telecoils and Hearing Aids

If you have trouble communicating on the telephone, you may want to consider getting hearing aids with telecoils when you are ready for new hearing aids.  Most newer telephones are hearing aid compatible.  If your hearing aid has a telecoil setting, then you can use the telecoil to connect to a hearing aid compatible phone.

The receivers of hearing aid compatible telephones produce a magnetic field.  Hearing aid manufacturers learned many years ago that they could design hearing aids with telecoils to pick up the magnetic field and amplify it.  This type of coupling is called inductive coupling.  The user of the hearing aid usually gets a strong signal without annoying feedback that can occur with acoustic coupling.

Hearing aids with telecoils can also be used in rooms that have an induction loop system installed.  The listener simply switches their hearing aids to the telecoil setting and they can hear the program through their hearing aids.

  16. I totally dig this idea, but . . . who writes the first letters you guys or us? (above says, you guys, even so the email I got just said we write them.) What is the subject matter? Can we write about anything? I can imagine this is a lot cheaper than therapy or medication for some folks. Can we include photos of our cats? How about recipes for vegan cupcakes?
