According to the Better Hearing Institute, tinnitus peaks between the ages of 65 to 84 years of age. It tends to affect the following individuals the most: lower educated, people in smaller rural communities, retirees and those on medical disability, single people and those of lower income.
In regards to the severity of tinnitus, people experience tinnitus 49 % of the day. They feel that their tinnitus is loud 41 % of the time. People with tinnitus are annoyed by their tinnitus 39 % of the time.
